If you would, please pardon my coat-tail riding and colorful fabric weaving in advance. I appeal for greater perspicuity and reflective doubt in good faith. As architects, I pray you will appreciate the value of a hearty critique.

"Will global and domestic spying diminish in this promised new era or just dress in different couture, shade different scholarly studies, colorize horrors with astronomically-beguiling subterfuges?"

This sentence gets better as it comes to its conclusion, enabling as it does an appropriately open ended, vivid and dark imagination. But, for as far as it goes, I think the image still confines or limits the potential of the Intelligence Apparatus's immanent evolution too innocently into a quaint third-generation-warfare style of framing that doesn't explicitly do justice to our mutually-held legitimate concerns about the future. 'Astronomic beguilement' begins to touch upon it, yet such does not take infinity and oblivion sufficiently into account.

My critique is that the image's lack of specificity, and, to my awareness, that of your other writing, maintains an almost mainstream-level of rosy depiction of the professional intelligence class, even if that depiction includes 'all means fair and foul, diplomatically,' as the vision is one that does not satisfactorily integrate awareness of Whitney Webb's history concerning "The Enterprise" in the CIA's shadow.

Your short blog post comment on Burns - fine complaint thought it is - is as if sanitary enough for the New York Times, itself, which has had at least 12 Langley reps in situ since 1959, according to the authority of Bill Pepper. [Start ~minute 34:30] https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0k19cpPIlWQ

The picture of what is to come is much more dire - or at least, I assert that a healthy paranoia within us should be able to consider the costs and benefits, which we may collectively and individually face, lest we be caught with our pants down in pursuit of a bait and switch. In the worst case scenario, if we entertain the notion that current powers-that-be - both those proud of the proscenium and those behind the curtain - will achieve some combination of their officially stated goals about a unified global civilization AND a regression of the actual track-record of past events, recent and distant, intentional or not (the ever-convenient "9/11 windfall" comes to mind) into the future, then it will look more specifically something like this:

The Intelligence Apparatus will 'go organic' as the digital medium metastasizes even further to envelope, assume, and ultimately usurp every biological entity (think Monsanto), institutional tradition (think A.I.), and analogue function (think of the Dead Internet Theory & our failure to remember phone numbers) of every supply chain, every human society, every human individual, and thus, every memory. It will graduate beyond its legacy pretenses of being adjunct to governance function (legitimately representative or otherwise) and attachment to military campaign into a fully privatized affair, and by that, simply become part of the management suite for the value-siphoning private equity financial hegemon (if it has not already, or was not so at its inner-power-center from the get-go).

As the ruse of 'Public/Private Partnerships to avert [severely over-estimated] climate catastrophism' reveals itself to be nothing more than a corporate/gov-fusion confidence game and swindle undertaken to deliver the globally monolithic, technocratic leviathan fully hatched, ("Save us Klaus Schwab, you're our only hope!") the intelligence apparatii's total surveillance, kicking-under-the-table, dirty tricks, black-market-&-terrorism-management shtick will become the singular administrator of moral authority and henchman for the petulant and intolerant daddy-state. Maybe the Jesuit Vatican Bureaucracy will fill the role of 'stakeholder review board,' a sort of forward-facing digital butler and symbol manager inside your augmented reality to answer seeds of curiosity before they bloom and to placate psychic discomfort about being nought but a selfless drone in that brave new world.

The masquerade that the Intelligence Apparatus was not in its conception integral to a big-business, for-profit enterprise will no longer be necessary, but simply become a history forgettable-enough in the flux of artificially induced constant anxiety or the emotionally preferable omphaloskepsis and its default narcissism. The masquerade that it was not always a soft-power instrument of the English Crown atop the Anglo-American Big-Business & Central Banking Establishment will be revealed (to those keenly looking) by deduction during Charles' "Vast Military Style Campaign" to wring out his monarch's version of Sustainability by blood and drudgery utilizing "trillions, not billions of dollars... far beyond global GDP." Somehow, with remarkable ignorance or maniacal deception, the basic fact is lost on the King and his neo-con/neo-lib audience that hot war is the single greatest polluter and creator of toxic fallout of ANY human endeavor, and it consumes fossil fuels with a hunger even more voracious than its consumption of human life. He's describing a mass-suicide campaign of incomprehensible proportion. I surmise this is not what you and I imagine Sustainability to mean.

Even if you personally survive such a nightmare, the new Intelligence Apparatus will fully obsolete the function of the arts (except the arts' state-sanctioned official kabuki cousins) and it will consider all independent thought or unmonitored creative curiosity a dire security threat. It will be a part of the mechanism by which no alternative currency to its own (programmable, ID-backed CBDC) is tolerated, when all humanity will only eat at the pleasure of that illegitimate Sovereign and his courtly finance/engineering milieu. It will saturate our lives applied as a sort of wet-ware, an inner-sleave that witnesses and nudges our feelings, our thoughts, our actions, and our health to its profit maximizing whim. (Or do you consider the "magic dust" - presumably aerosolized, 5G enabled nano-tech - of Assange's yet final public speech a red-herring psyop, meant for images like this to kettle us and neutralize our response with hopeless, dystopian fear? Or should we tentatively trust his report on V7 & 8 mysteries lest we miss the most pivotal and glaring red flag?)

The apparatus's HUMINT functions will slowly but surely be outsourced to the Internet-of-Things & Internet-of-Bodies hive-mind of central management, and the actual people currently planning, running, and executing its operations will be downsized and outsourced to badly-written algorithm until no people are left in either management or rank-and-file "intelligence" work - so called. Perhaps Mr. Burns' "kindly retirement" is an acknowledgement of this inevitable reality.

It will do these things with even less accountability and transparency than it is currently saddled with. (Is it saddled at all?) Even the children of the elite and the children of intelligence's upper echelon will find themselves clawing over one another to remain necessary within a generation or so. And they will bristle at the mere feeling of temptation to commit their own thought-crimes as prerequisite to remain in favor of the technocratic council after this "fundamental economic transition." Cognitive-dissonant self-censorship and gaslight-conforming prognostications will be the currency of the court. Because after all, by that time, their individual biological legacies will have become forced-obsolesced by their own compartmented, and therefore ignorant, doing. All of humanity will be as a single desperate war-lord's mono-cultural, in-bred family, or something winnowing toward it.

And the whole shebang will be automated. The new apparatus will be omniscient, omnipotent, and, by virtue of that capacity, it will falsely believe itself to be God. Perhaps this is what the King means when he says "with the greatest respect beyond even the governments of the worlds' leaders..." What could possibly be "beyond" that, if not the fealty due to a global monarch for the divinity presumed by a singular global Sovereign?

And, so having taken up so much of your time and attention, if I may suggest responsible response to such a dark-visioned scenario,... I propose we're not doing enough to prevent it, let alone enough to see it for what it is or could be. In specific, the captured-science of the Climate Cult and the Bio-security theater of the Covid Cult must be re-evaluated for their potential instrumentality, their convenient outcomes geared so well to this leviathan's emergence, because the answers to our collective problems inherent to both obsessions or themes amount to a mandatory dive into its very arms for protection. It offers no other solutions but monoculture alone. Should this not be its disqualifying feature? Are not monocultures inherently, maximally unresilient?

As self-identified liberals, we will miss a fleeting, existential opportunity if we do not reconsider our tribal commitments around our confidence and certainty in these narratives' supreme veracity: Climate and Covid. If we don't allow ourselves to recognize them for the Trojan Horses and false idols that they may be, and we continue to take desperate shelter proudly behind illiberal "liberal" virtue signals and conformist group-think, as if we were still citizens of the 20th Century, then we're as good as toast... or cyborg zombies, depending on our luck and good fortune against very bad odds.

And if I'm wrong, then the only risk we take in venturing such extreme skepticism of our corporate-&-intelligence-approved received wisdom, is the risk of mental calisthenics in learning to occupy a more comfortable posture in the face of extreme ambiguity, profound information asymmetry, and surreal uncertainty, thus coming to hold complete (if unsanitary) ideas in our minds, which we need not choose in the end to believe. What good is it to outsource intelligence and authority when, for the time being, we have opportunity of the spirit ourselves to assume them for our own? At the very worst we'd have wasted our time and awareness aspiring merely to becoming non-attached, educated, more zen generalists balanced in witness here on the precipice of universal oblivion.

The risk in the other direction is that we blindly and enthusiastically participate in our own permanent subjugation. And, if life is truly better than death, no matter what the condition, then that's the best case scenario.

Thank you for your time, tolerance, and cogitation.

Godspeed.
