It would not be the first time an innovative service to the public was exploited for other purposes without notifying the victims of unwarranted trust.
Researchers, law enforcement, purchasers of user data, spies, and hackers have managed to gain access to private data covertly without approval of the public contributors, and without secure methods to protect user data.
Privacy policies have become notoriously deceptive, so much so that none should be trusted to not have hidden escape features that grant holders the right to use data for other purposes.
This is not meant to disparage the novel means of testing, just that intimate information should always be accompanied by strict security and protection measures, spelled out meticulously in the offerings, with assurances that violations will be severely punished.
Maybe offering a $10,000 reward to any person suffering privacy violation would be an eye-catcher to get skeptical folks to take part.
