Swell article of a success which could help counter the negative propaganda being spread about public and rent regulated housing as preamble to takeover of thousands of units by rapacious investors.
Anyone familiar with the five boroughs knows that well-maintained public housing by NYCHA and private non-profits are bountiful, many integrated into neighborhoods along with privately-owned residences.
Manhattan's Upper West Side and Midtown and Chelsea and Lower East Side, have thousands of housing units for low and moderate-income residents. So too The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island.
Too often news reports focus on the negatives of housing almost as if positive coverage has no appeal -- which may be true of closed minds as well as those who aim to capitalize on the bad and skip past the good, the good most often meaning the most profitable rather socially beneficial.
Kudos to the residents of these successful projects and to Mr. Kimmelman and the Times. So inspiring to read for enjoyment in these days of misery.
Fingers crossed that the pandemic will soon go away along with the tormenting tales of dreadful public housing distortion.
