The War in Afghanistan: How It Started and How It Is Ending

The dead of the US's longest war will receive a monument in the national capital to provide tourists another stop on the glory road, comingling with the weeping families and comrades of the sacrificed.
Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, Capitol, Vietnam, White House, FBI, Pentagon, Arlington, The Mall, Supreme Court, tame erections in DC, then bus, drive, fly, ship, rocket out to DIA, DHS, CIA, NSA, Belvoir, Bragg, Barksdale, LANL, Bremerton, Guam, Korea, Middle East, Black Sea, Outer Space, nowhere inaccessible to the monstrous machinery for slaughtering humans to generate profits and jobs and pensions and hospitals and cemeteries and parades and food carts and flags and toy soldiers for tots and violent games for teens and murderous entertainment for nerds and couch potatoes served up as ever, by advertisers and data aggregators and political operatives in cahoots with war and peace glorifiers galore.
War will always be with us, the hardened philosophers muse, not merely endless in the ravaged landscape, but in our hearts and minds and loins and eyeballs and tromps along cold-hearted heaps of marble dishonoring the brave fools who were enlisted to kill and be killed for, well, help out here, what was that carnage all about?
